Kickstarting 2018 Creativity

For various reasons I’ve not been at my most creatively productive over the past few months. But it hasn’t been a complete washout.

Over the last week or so, I’ve been carding some gorgeous Landscape Batts in preparation for a new product that I’m really rather excited about launching hopefully by late Spring. Back in January I co-hosted a Fleece Sorting and Preparation day and collectively we skirted somewhere in the region of 50 fleeces. Not bad going for a bunch of folk with varied experience in a cold and drafty barn!

I’ve been experimenting with spinning on the fabulous Majacraft Aura that my dear friend Emma left me in her Will. Much as I love my Ashford Traditional, the Aura is another beast entirely! And of course my knitting has never been far from my fingers.

Now that the days are getting noticably longer and I’ve spotted plenty of snowdrops and even some daffodils, I feel like my creative mojo is waking from it’s winter slumbers.

A February of Significance

This February I’ve made a significant breakthrough. Young Pan is a lamb I delivered on 20th April 2016 at 2:30am. I remember it very well as his birth was utterly horrific. His poor mum Vi had ringwomb (which essentially means her cervix failed to dilate). Her lambing had begun well and seemed to be progressing normally. And then things stalled. Pan’s nose was just poking out, and with every passing minute his tongue was becoming more purple and engorged. He was stuck fast. I couldn’t get him out and I couldn’t get him back in. Read more
